Wedding Wednesday #10: 2 Tasks You Can’t Trust ANYONE With.

Real quick, before I get started with Wedding Wednesday #10, I just want to toot our own horn: our wedding was featured on Wedding Wire! Of course, they don’t go into TOO much detail on their website. But that’s A-OK, you are getting all the need-to-knows RIGHT HERE!

Now back to your regular (fabulous) programming…

There are 2 INTEGRAL Tasks regarding your wedding-besides the getting married part-that you cannot trust with anyone but yourself (and maybe your spouse). Are you ready for what those are?

1. Ceremony Programs
2. Thank You Notes

At this point you know I am a personalization fiend, but these two items are uber personal. The program maps out what’s gonna happen and who is involved. The back of ours also included directions to the venue, tips for the evening (HEY! We will have March Madness on the bar TVs! Mimosas for all!), and – my very favorite – a Thank You to all in attendance.

What the heck, RoaminTwin?? Those are sent out after you open gifts!

Well, yes. And no. I am a pretty grateful person (and you should be for maximum happiness in your everyday life!), and I made sure to thank everyone involved every step of the way. I didn’t prepare much of a spoken thank you for the rehearsal dinner. But I did it anyway. And was a blubbering/nervous wreck the entire time.

We put a Thank You in our programs. I would share that with you here, but it was tailored for the crowd at the wedding. I did include that this celebration was as much for them as it was for us. Heck, besides the ceremony, every part of the wedding day is a big Thank You Note! Because each and every person in that room has been with us as individuals and as a couple, and have helped us grow into who we are today.

We carved out time to give a little Thank You Toast (or two or three – I kept grabbing the mic from Timmykins) before dinner. I was VERY thankful for my practice run from the night before. Because we will never have the same group of people in the same room at the same time ever again. Think about it. The room was bursting with L.O.V.E!!

Last but not least, we sent out Thank You Notes for the gifts we received. They were all purchased and made with the biggest amount of love, so I made sure to not only design the postcards (below), but also write notes that were filled with gratitude and sentiment. Because these aren’t just random people who decided to buy you gifts. These are your closest friends and family. They have been there for you through thick and thin. Good and bad. I mean, that’s why you invited them to your wedding, right??

Right? If not, why did you invite them, silly?

2 Actions to GET INSPIRED!

Good Day, Happy People!

I’ll admit it: I have been a little less-than-inspired recently! I subscribe to blogs, “Like” Facebook pages, and follow people and businesses on Twitter for daily doses of inspiration and motivation. But sometimes, it affects me for 2 minutes and then I go about my day, mundanely. And I hate it.

Sometimes, we all need a little kick in the pants, and for me, I continuously kicked myself for almost a week, and now I feel all charged up like the Energizer Bunny!

What did it for you? How can I do the same? Time to get back on the wagon!

Here are the 2 simple actions I took/am taking to propel myself forward, inspired:

1. I purchased something for myself. A few things, actually. When was the last time you purchased something for yourself without necessity? Purchased a dress you didn’t need for an upcoming work event, or that T.V. and XBOX 1 you needed to continue to interact with your gamer friends and stay up-to-par with the status quo?

Not only did I purchase a few things for myself, but they were on sale (YEEEE!), and they display words to motivate and inspire me:
bracelet icing3 PhoneCase
 * “STOP AND SMELL THE ROSES” bangle purchased ON SALE from:
* “Quit Slackin’ + Make It Happen” wallet, and “Start the day with a smile and end it with champagne” phone case purchased ON SALE from: The Icing

If you have a difficult time “selfishly” purchasing items for yourself, then do what I (wish I could) do, and give away one item in your home for each item you purchase. Guilt-away! Now, every time I look down, I have a reminder to be positive, and not just dream, but GO FOR MY DREAMS! Everyone deserves a little sumpin-sumpin to do that for them!

2. Write a MANIFESTO. This week, I am participating in a FREE course with Melissa Cassera ( entitled OBSESSED. Monday’s prompt was to write a Lifestyle Manifesto. According to Melissa’s worksheet: a Manifesto “provides a ‘check-in’ system to ensure that you’re practicing what you preach + presenting an accurate depiction of your lifestyle.” I have read so many times over that writing a Manifesto could be that one thing to spark everything else positively in my life…and for some reason I just never jumped on it. The prompt inspired me, but blocked me at the same time. Good thing Melissa included a fill in the blank form for me to start with! I will past the first draft of my manifesto below. But, just like life, it is a work-in-progress. Let me know what you think!

RoaminTwin’s Lifestyle Manifesto: Draft 1

When I wake up in the morning, the first thought on my mind is: Will going to the gym bring me more joy or pain, today?
And after that: Time for a big stretch and a spot of tea!
My heart glows when I am laughing with my best mates, and my heart breaks when I have no power to better a tough situation for a friend or family member
My community is my inspiration. More than anything else, I care about helping them to realize the joy they bring others
In my world, fantastic, flirty underwear is an absolute necessity
Jumping in puddles and wine nights are always a good idea.
Champagne and celebration are acceptable EVERY day
Pants are overrated, and being anything but authentic is a definite NO.
Fantasizing about that ice cream treat after a zumbathon is totally reasonable.
Striving to roam every corner of the earth is a must.
But, at the end of the day, living an abundantly joy-filled journey is all that matters.
When I die, I want to be remembered as the person who found herself on an adventure in happiness with…herself
And who inspired others to find joy and fulfillment in themselves, too.

Call-To-Action: Now that I have shared my Manifesto, I want YOU to create one to share with the community! This is a forum to share and promote happiness, so no holding back!

I Have NO Free Time!!

How do you use this exclamation?

A. Excuse
B. Argument-winner
C. Throwing-in-the-towel-by-resentment statement

OK, so those were the top 3 ways that I know I have used the oft-used phrase (and thought). But now, I have decided to use it in a different way:

I have no free time.

Every moment counts. Every breath counts. No practice round, no extra lives, no free time.

Now, say it with me: I have no free time.

See how it feels completely different rolling off the tongue now?

It’s time not to just say it, though, because we don’t have time to waste. It is time to live it.

How are you going to live YOUR precious life? What will you do with that free time that has otherwise been wasted being “bored”?

Let’s learn, discover, travel, and meet new people!

I know I will…as soon as 5pm rolls around…

Happy Tweets Monday!

Good Afternoon, and welcome back to Happy Tweets Monday, Happy People!

I am back in business after my honeymoon hiatus, and couldn’t be happier to spread some long-awaited love and momentum to everyone (including myself). Because, let’s face it: Mondays are hard to get through. Especially after a 2 week trip to Europe and beyond – but that’s for another post!

The following tweet should look familiar to you. I posted it in the last Happy Tweets Monday post 2 weeks ago. But, I could post it every day for the rest of my life. Good reminder!

Because in the end you won’t remember the time you spent working in the office or mowing your lawn. Climb that goddamn mountain.

Once In A Lifetime

I don’t know if you all remember this, but a couple of months ago, I had to Pump The Brakes! I nearly purchased 5 tickets for my family to see Julie Andrews in her speaking series in May. In England. With no prior plans to be there AT ALL.

Well, little did I know that – in Timmykin’s scouring of the internet for the perfect Christmas gift – he too had run across this speaking series that my idol had scheduled across The Pond. And without reading my blog post, he came to me with a proposition:

Let’s go to England for our honeymoon and see Julie Andrews while we are there!

At first, I thought he was just doing this to make me happy. We already had this elaborate plan – well, IDEA; nothing set in stone – to go to Germany around Oktoberfest this coming fall. We were going to take in all of the history, drink some beer, and make a trip over to Austria to take the ‘Sound of Music’ tour (guess whose idea THAT was??). We had talked about traveling to Germany since long before getting engaged, and this seemed like the perfect opportunity to do so.

But here is the reasoning he gave me:

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Germany and Oktoberfest will be around for the foreseeable future, but Julie Andrews won’t be around forever. Plus, anything we do is an adventure, and there is plenty I want to see and do in England as well!

OK, I can get with that!

So, this past weekend, we booked our tickets to see Julie Andrews LIVE and IN PERSON! Nothing else has been booked yet, but the first step has been taken! Now all we need is his passport, tickets, hotels, trains…we are getting there 🙂

So, here is just one piece of advice I can offer you from this experience thus far:

Whether you decide to marry or not, choose to spend your time with at least one adventurer in your life. Whether it’s venturing to different countries, or just different restaurants together, it will be a happy relationship! And, if you just so happen to be able to marry this adventurer in your life, more power to you! I did!

EEEEEE! I so essited to see her!

A Test of Patience – And My Relationship

Raise your hand if you are patient 100% of the time.

I anticipate – even sitting by yourself on the other side of the computer screen – that not one person raised their hand.

Before Timmykins, I might have. I might have said I am the most patient person in the world. WRONG! I am pretty darn patient though. But when Timmykins decided months ago that he was going to play in an outdoor pond hockey tournament in northern Wisconsin in February – smack dab in the middle of winter – and that I was going to join him on the 10 hour drive to cheer him on, I knew right then and there that this was going to be the biggest test of my patience.

First of all, I do not hold the same passion for hockey as he does. I am proud of him for chasing after a childhood dream in learning to both skate and play hockey in the last couple of years, but being raised around the NBA and NFL, hockey just doesn’t top my list of favorites.

Second of all, bunking in a cabin with a bunch of his teammates that I don’t know that well just didn’t sound appealing to me.

Add on top of that the looooong drive and the blustery, freezing conditions (windchill sat at -27 on one of the 2 days of play). This is a recipe for Whiny RoaminTwin.

I chose to (attempt to) look upon this journey as an adventure. Something new and fun that we have never done before.

And I will tell you that, despite my telling myself everything was going to be swell and I was looking at it all wrong, the whole shebang just did not turn out to be my cup-o-tea. But when Timmykins is playing hockey, he is in one of his elements, and I just love supporting him. I will admit I was a little extra whiny and overdramatic (I admitted to it as it was happening on the trip), but the elements will do that to a person, right?

Being a week out from this trip, I can see the majority of it as an adventure. The last big trip with Timmykins before I become his wife next month. I can even already laugh at all the misfortunes of the trip (there were many).

But I will tell you this: it was not the end of the world. I survived people, weather, and sleeping on a pullout couch. And if our relationship could survive the craziness of last weekend + the float trip we embarked on this past July, we can survive nearly everything.

What has tested YOUR patience and perspective recently?

Blog Challenge: Day 24

If you have no idea what this Blog Challenge is, or want to join in on the fun, start HERE!

Enjoying the Blog Challenge material? Stop by my twin sister’s BLOG! We are answering the same questions separately to see how similar our answers are! Do YOURS match any of ours?

Today’s prompt focuses on travel, and boy is that my cup-o-tea!

So, without further ado:

Day 24 Question: What are your travel essentials for your chosen destination(s) ?

A: As you may remember, I have fully disclosed to you — my loyal audience — that I would love to be able to work from home. Of course, I want my home to be a cottage on the coast of England, Ireland, or Scotland with a large outdoor living space with amazing views. I also want to travel my you-know-what off, using this cottage as my home base.

When I get to this point, here my travel essentials will be:

1. Toiletries, passport, medications, money, clothing (given)
2. Timmykins (I don’t know if this was considered a given to anyone else. But, given.)
3. My laptop. This is how I plan to work for the rest of my life. And I plan to enjoy it 🙂
4. iPad. For those days when I want to carry a smaller load and my work is a little more minimalistic.
5. My DSLR camera. That is my baby and will assist me in photographing and videoing my adventures, as well as content for my website. Videography/photography are two of my biggest passions.
6. Mascara (because I am a little vain), chapstick, sunscreen, & sunglasses.

Really, I don’t need much. I have everything I need in the support of my family and friends, as well as my health. Experiences are what I want to collect for the rest of my life. Wonderful, adventurous, meaningful experiences.

What would be on YOUR packing list?

Happy Friday, Happy People! Now, go live your own adventure!

Happy Tweets Monday AND Blog Challenge: Day 5

What, you thought I was going to break from a challenge for routine? Psshhh, NO! But I also was not going to take away some peoples’ motivation/ray of sunshine for their Mondays. Because things change, but Mondays never cease to exist (darnit!).

If you are unsure as to what the hee haw this blog post is all about, check out my Day 1 post HERE!

Day 5’s Question: What does your PERFECT day look like?

A: First of all, I would be a morning person. I would wake up to do an hour of yoga while watching the sunrise outside. An exotic locale would be ideal, somewhere off the map with no cars, no noise. Just me and the sounds of nature, or waves slapping against the shoreline. Deep breaths of salty sweet air filling my lungs, waves of relaxation washing over me, not worrying about my daily to-do list. Just an hour of complete peace, with a challenge to my flexibility and strength.

Next, I would have a pea protein shake (the very BEST, and my favorite? Growing Naturals Vanilla Pea Protein. If you want an awesome review, just ask!), alongside a cup of piping hot black coffee. A little bitterness to wash down the sweet, natural flavor of health. I would take this time to think of all that I am grateful for. These would get specific in scope, and it would be a chance to close my eyes to get ready for the day.

Gosh, this is so hard to decide, because I love to relax but I love to get things done and explore. So, this could really go all over the place. I apologize in advance.

Next would be a time to check/answer emails, write a blog post or two, update my website. I would not use the internet prior to my morning routine, because once I am connected, I kind of feel an obligation to it for the rest of the day. So, I would take care of those items. If I have a photography session scheduled for the day, I like to schedule those in the morning or evening, so this would be the perfect time to fit one in.

Followed by another hour or so of editing, electronic communication, and just plain getting things done.

Next would be some physical exploration. Of course, I love people, so if I am in a place where I am near loved ones, I would include at least one of them in this. I want to see and do things I have never seen or done before, even if I am in a location I am familiar with. Time to taste local cuisine, or go on a hike, rock climb, explore a farmer’s market, etc. Just flat out explore. And the physical aspect will get me moving without the need to go to a gym. Ideally, this would include a swim or kayaking, or some activity in water. Whether this be a local pool, lake, or OCEAN (my favorite!).

I am pretty flexible with what happens during this chunk of the day, because there are so many people I would love to spend it with, as well as so many place I would like to go and explore. Plus, I am an awful decision-maker, so more often than not, I see myself coming up with ideas and letting my P.I.C. make the final decision.

This would be followed by a fresh dinner then an evening “work” activity, though not necessarily in that order. I would love to never eat at a chain restaurant ever again. I want to cook something fresh and tasty and share it with loved ones and Timmykins, or dine out at a local favorite. Something that wouldn’t leave me feeling bloated and ready to sleep the rest of my day away. Dinner in conjunction with a couple of cocktails, sounds lovely.

And then (or before) some evening work. As I said before, I prefer morning or evening photo shoots, so I can fit another here, or editing/electronic correspondence for awhile. If I could, I would unplug from the internet for the rest of the day besides these blocks of time. That would be lovely.

Then, maybe a walk on the beach, a movie, or a fire pit kind of night. Anything outside when the weather is nice is A OK with me.

All of these leading to the climactic bubble bath with a glass of wine, and (if possible) an 11pm bedtime.

In my perfect world, everything will be clean and organized, and I wouldn’t have to do laundry or shop for groceries. BUT, I am sure there is time in my day for each of those things. While making money AND relaxing.

I will think of this perfect day as I move through my Monday. I even plan on incorporating some of these practices (yoga, coffee, no electronics before my protein drink) in smaller increments into my every day. But, in order to do that, I need a little motivation. Maybe some Happy Tweets to bring inspiration my way, what do you think?

Enjoy 🙂

Blog Challenge: Day 3

HAPPY BABY SHOWER J&T! I just got back from a breakfast to celebrate one of my best friends and that is just one of the MANY things I am happy/grateful for today! What are YOU grateful for today?

Enough of my gushing, onto the important stuff 😛

Happy SATURDAY(???) Happy People!!!!

–I don’t usually post on the weekend, but I am DETERMINED to stick to this 30 Day Blog Challenge–

If you are unsure as to what the hee haw this blog post is all about, check out my Day 1 post HERE!

Question: What’s your definition of freedom in business and adventure in life?

A: When I grow up, I want to be a filmmaker, making films that mean something while traveling the world and spreading happiness (see: Day 2).

My freedom would be the ability to travel the world and not worry about being tied down to any one place forever. If I want to move or go on an adventure, I can pack up my belongings and go. I could be my own boss-and maybe the boss of others-and not worry about working a nine to five. When I am inspired to do something, I could go out and do it.

Of course, now I have Timmykins to consider. But he has similar feelings on freedom and travel and business goals. And I am sure he won’t mind if I tell him I am his boss 🙂

Oh, and my definition of adventure? Trying new things, going out on a limb on a whim, doing familiar things with new people, doing favorite activities, and of course-when funds and time allow it-traveling the world.

Starting with a possible family trip to Scotland in the summer and (crossing my fingers for) a honeymoon in Germany and the surrounding area.

What are freedom and adventure to you? We should all go on an adventure together!
