Hello, Hello, Happy People!

I hope you had a wonderful sleep! I did not, as I just kept thinking that there are only 16 more sleeps until I marry my Timmykins! I am sure he wonders if I will stop utilizing that AWFUL nickname for him after we are hitched. But, it’s basically second nature to me at this point.

Can you really blame me for taking a BAD nickname placed on him by an ex and poking fun, just a little? He has more prominent nicknames in our together life, but this is the one I choose to share.

And really, if he hated it, I would stop.

But, this is not the point of this post.

The point of this post is to let you know that My “About” page has been TRANSFORMED into my “Purpose Page!”

It has come to my attention that not only was my “About” page bland, but it didn’t really share ANYTHING about me, aside from a few words. With a little research, hesitance (change is always hard, isn’t it?), and a revision or two, I have come up with my “Purpose Page!” to open up a little more about my life and why I choose to blog about happiness and carry on in the way that I do.

Truthfully, guys and dolls, I am an old granny at heart who seeks happiness on a regular basis – through gestures small and grand, people, places, and things. Who looks at a butterfly and gets a sinking or hateful feeling? No one. But who actually takes time to look at the butterfly, to inspect it, take in its full beauty and let happiness wash over them? Not many. I feel that it is my duty as The RoaminTwin to find joy in everything and pass it on to you, cultivating a culture of positivity that is motivated to spread and thrive. Long after I am gone.

To find out more, check out the “Purpose Page!”, as well as liking me on Facebook (www.facebook.com/Roamin4Happiness) and following me on Twitter, @RoaminTwin

Now, c’mon! Get happy!

Happy Tweets Tuesday

I need motivation more than anything TODAY, so part of me is grateful that I didn’t compile the Happy Tweets yesterday. I was just running around all over the place, and my BUSYness motivated me. Today, I feel like I could fall asleep at any point — even walking around the office! And I just have so much more day to go…

I am not distracted by anything. Except for sleep.

So, for those of you ALSO distracted (by sleep, marriage prep, trips coming up, school, babies, etc.), here are this week’s Happy Tweets to get you back on track to succeed in ALL areas!

Happy Tweets Monday

Does anyone else feel sometimes like the “Happy” in Happy Tweets Monday should be replaced with “Inspirational”??
I feel that most days. But do you have the same feeling as I that happiness and inspiration go hand-in-hand? Think about it as you consider these tweets, then let me know what you think!

Happy Tweets Monday

Hello, Happy People!

I hope that life is treating you splendidly. If you don’t think life is good, is it your attitude that is getting you down?

Fear not! Today is the day of motivation and happiness brought to you by the people of Twitter! If you didn’t already know: these are tweets that I have retweeted over time as motivational, heart warming, or fun. They are meant to lift spirits and move us towards our dreams and goals.

Most recently, these suckers have helped motivate me to get to the gym daily (sometimes twice!) and lose 6 pounds! And to stick to my spending fast. Starting the second week and it is getting easier! Which is great, because with student loans, wedding, and general living, I feel that I am going to have to go on a semi permanent spending fast: and I am OK with that. Happy Tweets have also helped me realize that it is time I treat myself better, as well as better myself, and I have begun to experiment with cooking, writing, and even cleaning more (I am not the neatest person on the planet).

What do they do for you? Let me know, and maybe you will help someone else realize what motivational/happy quotes brings to their lives!

Intimidation vs. Motivation

What intimidates you?

That was probably an easy question to answer. Everyone has at least ONE thing that intimidates them. Is it motorcycles? Your work/school rival? The mere idea of CrossFit?

Now, answer me this: WHY does this thing/things intimidate you?

Fear? Jealousy? Inadequacy?

Well, ladies and gentlemen, yesterday I decided to take something that has always intimidated me and turn it into motivation…

ESPN Magazine: The Body Issue (find this year’s photographs HERE)

Every year until now I have avoided this. Why? Because I personally have had body issues. Those athletes with their god-like physiques intimidate the HELL out of me. They make me feel more inadequate than I feel on a daily basis, and that is pretty damn bad. Pure muscle. Pure beauty. Pure talent. Pure poise.

All things I wish I had.

This year, I am taking a different perspective on this. I looked the the photographs once, and will continue to every time I need a pick-me-up, or motivation to work harder, eat healthier, and try new things. These athletes are grateful for their bodies, therefore they take care of them. It is time I did the same, instead of falling into this self-loathing crap.

Now I’m going to look up the healthiest food I can eat at the restaurant I am going to tonight. It’s a start, right?

What are YOU going to do to face what intimidates you?

Happy Place

Close your eyes…

Breathe in deeply. The air is salty, tender. Let it fill your lungs to capacity. Hold it.

Now breathe it out. Along with it all of the negative thoughts, energy, and stress.

Welcome to my happy place.

Sink your toes into the sand. Wiggle them around a bit. Listen to your own breaths, your heart beating. Can you hear them over the ocean spray? Let them sync with the rhythm of the waves. Don’t let their crashes startle you. Relax.

The temperature is so perfect that your mind doesn’t wander to I am too cold or I am too hot

Do not open your eyes. Just think of the beautiful colors of the sky above you: dark blue fading to purples, pinks, and golds. This is the clearest sky on the calmest day that you can remember.

Are you alone? Or has the person next to you synced their breathing to your own, to the tide. Which do you prefer?

Breathe in deeply.

Thank you for joining me.

Dove Real Beauty Series: You Are More Beautiful Than You Think

This experiment shows a forensics sketch artist sketching women as they describe themselves – without ever seeing them. Then, he asks others to describe these women. The results are ASTOUNDING.

How do you see yourself? Does this reflect your attitude? Are you happy with your appearance?

You should be. Get happy.
