2 Actions to GET INSPIRED!

Good Day, Happy People!

I’ll admit it: I have been a little less-than-inspired recently! I subscribe to blogs, “Like” Facebook pages, and follow people and businesses on Twitter for daily doses of inspiration and motivation. But sometimes, it affects me for 2 minutes and then I go about my day, mundanely. And I hate it.

Sometimes, we all need a little kick in the pants, and for me, I continuously kicked myself for almost a week, and now I feel all charged up like the Energizer Bunny!

What did it for you? How can I do the same? Time to get back on the wagon!

Here are the 2 simple actions I took/am taking to propel myself forward, inspired:

1. I purchased something for myself. A few things, actually. When was the last time you purchased something for yourself without necessity? Purchased a dress you didn’t need for an upcoming work event, or that T.V. and XBOX 1 you needed to continue to interact with your gamer friends and stay up-to-par with the status quo?

Not only did I purchase a few things for myself, but they were on sale (YEEEE!), and they display words to motivate and inspire me:
bracelet icing3 PhoneCase
 * “STOP AND SMELL THE ROSES” bangle purchased ON SALE from: KateSpade.com
* “Quit Slackin’ + Make It Happen” wallet, and “Start the day with a smile and end it with champagne” phone case purchased ON SALE from: The Icing

If you have a difficult time “selfishly” purchasing items for yourself, then do what I (wish I could) do, and give away one item in your home for each item you purchase. Guilt-away! Now, every time I look down, I have a reminder to be positive, and not just dream, but GO FOR MY DREAMS! Everyone deserves a little sumpin-sumpin to do that for them!

2. Write a MANIFESTO. This week, I am participating in a FREE course with Melissa Cassera (MelissaCassera.com) entitled OBSESSED. Monday’s prompt was to write a Lifestyle Manifesto. According to Melissa’s worksheet: a Manifesto “provides a ‘check-in’ system to ensure that you’re practicing what you preach + presenting an accurate depiction of your lifestyle.” I have read so many times over that writing a Manifesto could be that one thing to spark everything else positively in my life…and for some reason I just never jumped on it. The prompt inspired me, but blocked me at the same time. Good thing Melissa included a fill in the blank form for me to start with! I will past the first draft of my manifesto below. But, just like life, it is a work-in-progress. Let me know what you think!

RoaminTwin’s Lifestyle Manifesto: Draft 1

When I wake up in the morning, the first thought on my mind is: Will going to the gym bring me more joy or pain, today?
And after that: Time for a big stretch and a spot of tea!
My heart glows when I am laughing with my best mates, and my heart breaks when I have no power to better a tough situation for a friend or family member
My community is my inspiration. More than anything else, I care about helping them to realize the joy they bring others
In my world, fantastic, flirty underwear is an absolute necessity
Jumping in puddles and wine nights are always a good idea.
Champagne and celebration are acceptable EVERY day
Pants are overrated, and being anything but authentic is a definite NO.
Fantasizing about that ice cream treat after a zumbathon is totally reasonable.
Striving to roam every corner of the earth is a must.
But, at the end of the day, living an abundantly joy-filled journey is all that matters.
When I die, I want to be remembered as the person who found herself on an adventure in happiness with…herself
And who inspired others to find joy and fulfillment in themselves, too.

Call-To-Action: Now that I have shared my Manifesto, I want YOU to create one to share with the community! This is a forum to share and promote happiness, so no holding back!

Not QUITE Bridezilla

I haven’t been QUITE bridezilla.

But I hit a wall last week, letting myself get uber impatient and upset over spilled milk.

And, let me preface this by letting you know that Timmykins has been an awesome help and major support with this whole wedding planning process. He is just not as into it as I am. Which, in sweeping generalizations, is kind of the norm between husband and wife. At least from what I have encountered. It’s just funny to me how his focus has turned completely towards the future in the last few weeks, looking past the wedding, not right at it. Meaning the little tasks I have given him seem to be slipping through the cracks. But they are not. Just seem to be because I don’t have complete control over them.

OK, back to my story. I was at dinner with Timmykins and two of his groomsmen. They were asking me question after question that I thought I had already communicated the answers to them about (whether through text, email, or Timmykins). As I continued answering the barrage of questions – without my planner or anything else in front of me, so I was very taken off guard – my patience became non-existent and my answers became short. They knew I was upset.

I blamed it on my being hangry. Which wasn’t completely false. It was 9:45pm and I hadn’t eaten dinner yet.

But after I ate, my irritation and shortness continued. It didn’t come unwarranted, but it was unnecessary.

The next morning I received the following text from my second mom:

Hello Ms. S! This time next week you will be getting married!! Wow! Mind blowing – doesn’t seem possible! Enjoy your last week of being single and getting ready for your big day! [emoji, emoji, emoji, emoji]

Now, I have heard “Enjoy the process”, “Revel in the engagement”, yadda yadda yadda so many times. And I have as much as possible. We have had fun picking things out and planning to an extent, but we also are just ready to have this big party to thank all of our loved ones and be married already.

But that text was like a switch in my brain. People have questions? Fine. Just be ready to answer them. I sent an email to the entire wedding party with a full timeline and extra details. I gave Timmykins the job of making the program (though, if we don’t have one, does it REALLY matter?), I invited my sister – and MOH – over to go over center pieces with me, and I decided that whatever small details haven’t been completed (making lemon cookie dough, cakes, favors, and the list goes on and on) just may not get done. And I am OK with that.

I have been enjoying this last week with a couple of dinners out with friends, celebrating/photographing a dear friend’s wedding, finalizing some of the BIG stuff, attending a concert, and relaxing when I can find the time.

Because regardless of what details do and don’t come to fruition, we will be married and surrounded by those nearest and dearest to us at the end of the day.

And that is all that matters.

First of all, I want to thank you, my readers. Thank you so much for supporting me through this 30 Day Journey, and through this overall Journey of HAPPINESS. I couldn’t do any of this without your motivation and kind words. Though this blog as a whole is a journey, I thank you also for letting me take a break from my regular format and banter to work a little harder on myself. It is a joy to work for and with you in this life of happiness 🙂 Enjoy this Blog Challenge material? Stop by my twin sister’s BLOG for even MORE!

You read the title right: today isn’t the END of the race, but the beginning of a brand new journey for The RoaminTwin. Today marks the completion of a challenge…one that I didn’t get bored of or skip out on halfway through (maybe it’s because it isn’t a workout program…tehehe).

As of today (thanks to The Suitcase Entrepreneur), I now have the blueprint I need to my own amazing future. One where I call the shots, I do what I love, and I am HAPPY. Of course I am happy now, but I know I can make myself happy in so many ways! Is it a dream of mine to own my own business? Essentially, it has been a goal all along! My ideas of a production company, a film house, a photographer, a happiness guru…all of those come with the territory of being in charge of myself. Did I need a little motivation? Yes. And this has been my kick in the pants.

So, starting today – instead of taking this built-in day of rest and celebration – I want to begin challenging myself in other areas of my life that I didn’t realize needed much improvement until completing this blog challenge! Today I want to begin living even MORE simply.

I cleaned my room Monday. This meant getting rid of even MORE clothing, knick knacks, trash, and recycles. I drew out my budget for the next two weeks, as well as expenses for the next month. Buying anything for short-term pleasure (snacks, “I-wants” as opposed to “I-needs”) has been put on lock down. And I plan to go back through my room every-so-often (boy am I in the mood RIGHT NOW) to purge clothing and nonsense items some more.

How do YOU plan to live more simply? Is this a challenge that you feel you need to stack yourself up against?
