Happy Tweets Monday!

Happy Monday, Happy People!

Honesty time: Are these Happy Tweets Mondays still capturing your attention and affecting you positively?!

I started reposting positive/happy/motivating tweets over a year ago to kick my butt into high gear on dreaded Monday mornings. I realize that I haven’t kept up my end of the bargain as of late, and I feel like not posting them and having them in front of me has affected me in a negative way. When I don’t post, I feel like there is at least a little something missing. Like my Mondays fly by and I get nothing done.

Is there a more diverse way that you would like to be receiving inspiration and happiness? Know that I am developing so much more down the pipeline, and I would love to hear your thoughts!

Other than that, I hope you can find your tenacity within these posts, and that it inspires you to pass the positive vibes along to others!

Enjoy!

Happy Tweets Monday!

Good Evening, Happy People!

If you are anything like me, you are not too thrilled to be back to the grind after an AMAZING American Thanksgiving, filled with turkey, potatoes, turkey, apple pie, and – you guessed it – more turkey. And, though you may still have leftovers in the fridge, we can’t let the gluttonous, unproductive versions of ourselves carry over any longer (I admit, I gave it the long weekend, too!). I tend to look at Monday as my starting-over point. My take-off into the next week. The way I feel on Monday – as much as I hate it – dictates how I work and feel the rest of the week.

Lucky for everyone involved, I was feeling VERY inspired this morning. In fact, I finally started my morning workout routine again. I can no longer excuse myself with the weather changing and a warm bed calling my name, as that is how it will be for the next few months. No hibernating here!

Here are your Happy Tweets for the week! I hope they motivate + inspire + propel you forward into positive vibes for (at least) the rest of the week!

Enjoy!

Happy Tweets: To Be Used ANY Day Of The Week!

Good Afternoon, Happy People!

After each big event, I feel like things will calm down, that life will be a little less hectic. But, who the heck wants that, really? That sounds boring. So, instead of taking a weekend just to relax, get some things done around the house – you know, things that none of us have done in MONTHS – we decided to take a weekend trip up to see Timmykin’s grandma in Pennsylvania! It was not near enough time, but we packed in as much visiting and exploring as we could. That also meant that I didn’t have my computer on (except a little time to work on Saturday evening), which means no blogging until today! So, I apologize for my tardiness of our regularly scheduled Happy Tweets, but guess what? ANY day is a good day for Happy Tweets! Enjoy!

Happy Tweets Monday!

It’s so crazy to me knowing that I have instilled a positive routine for myself in Happy Tweets Monday that I never get sick of or lapse on. Sure, sometimes the Happy Tweets won’t get posted until later in the week, but they are always there, week in and week out.

I utilize Twitter as a source of inspiration for myself, retweeting as I see fit, and re-sharing with my readers and myself as I see appropriate. Because, sometimes we need an outside source of happiness, motivation, a kick in the butt, even if ever so tiny. This is my tiny, regular, contribution to myself and the world to do all of the above, and I hope that you enjoy it!

And now, your weekly does of Happy Tweets 🙂

Appreciation in Rejection

RoaminTwin, are you NUTS? Am I reading that title correctly?

Yes, indeedy, you are! You know that last post I wrote about GRATITUDE (and the positive effect it has had in my life, and the happiness it could bring to YOURS)?? Welp, this goes right along with that!

I have resolved to take more risks in this short life-o-mine! No, Not death-defying risks like jumping off a cliff unharnessed (OK, I wouldn’t be defying much of ANYTHING if I were in THAT situation). Instead, I want to take adventurous risks: traveling to new places, attempting ice skating tricks without fearing a spill or two, risking my ego to build upon my experience and educate myself further.

There are so many risks to take, I couldn’t name them all if I had the time! But with the resolution to take more risks also comes the resolution to accept the outcome–good or bad–to learn from and grow. This means not just not fearing rejection, but appreciating it. Get rejected by a prospective job? Take a look at your resume, your online presence, how you present yourself in person and on paper. Evaluate, grow, and get back on the saddle!

At this point, I am looking forward to the rejection as a form of constructive criticism, not a roadblock. As long as you are growing and changing, rejection will come. Everything depends on how you handle said rejection. Rejection is also a down time, with a built in guarantee that something better is on the horizon.

What do you take away from rejection? Is there a shift in your thinking? Can YOU find the happiness that can arrive with rejection?

Happy Friday, Happy People!

One of My Favorite Tools: Twitter

A couple things I have learned today:

1. Math can be bad for your health. Sometimes it’s best just NOT to do it.

2. Show appreciation as often as possible. Even if in the smallest ways, just knowing you are appreciated is one of the best feelings in the world.

Now, back to the main point of this post (though, you should be hanging on to every word I say as truth and enlightenment 🙂 ). Twitter is ABSOLUTELY my best friend right now. Without a doubt, Timmykins has been punted. I thought it was such a silly idea, and refused to use it for the longest time. If I want to keep up with my friends, can’t I just call them?

So, I decided to use the service for more than just stalking friends. I follow entrepreneurs, professionals who work in the line of work that I enjoy, financial writers, fitness magazines, motivational speakers: every aspect of my life that I want to better, I follow at least 5 accounts for. It has kept me sane while doing my cardio routine at the gym. I used to HATE going to the gym because I felt like I could be getting so much done at home, and by the time I got home I was too exhausted from a full day at work and the gym to get anything else accomplished. I would start a gym routine with Timmykins, and after a week or two would burn out.

Now, I do a cardio routine in the morning and read articles, blogs, advice, and (gasp!) motivational tweets to start out my day. I do the same thing with my cardio routine in the evening as well (but only if I go to the traditional gym. Zumba requires a little more focus). Now, I feel like I am accomplishing so much more than just burning calories and getting healthy (which is a HUGE feat in itself, but I am a multi-tasker at heart). And now you know where I get the time to collect and retweet Happy and Motivational Tweets for you!

I am learning so much, and it is an awesome developmental tool if utilized correctly.

So, without further ado, here is a SECOND DOSE of Happy Tweets for the week! Why? Because I LOVE HAPPY PEOPLE! And because I am in need of some right this very instant! Enjoy!

Oh, and one last note from me: PRIORITIZE HAPPINESS!

Practically Perfect In Every Way

Those that are close to me know that the title of this post encapsulates the last couple of weeks for me (and no, I am not saying it describes me!).

On October 31st of this year, I arrived at work in a white blouse, red bow tie, blue skirt, black tights, black kitten heels, white gloves, pea coat, and a black hat adorned with daisies and red bulbs. My hair was in a low bun, I had rosy cheeks and I carried a floral duffel bag and an umbrella. With a parrot head at the base.

I was none other than one of my favorites…

and if you don’t yet know to whom I am referring, then you better check yourself

MaryPop
Mary Poppins!

I had so much fun creating this costume, mainly out of items I already owned (yes, the umbrella was in my arsenal prior to my thinking up this idea), and being a childhood favorite of mine for an entire day. Luckily, my place of work not only allows, but encourages this childlike behavior on October 31st.

The movie, Mary Poppins, has remained one of my favorites from childhood through to this point in my life, and I don’t see it going away any time soon. As I have grown, it has gone from fanciful magic, to adult lessons learned. I love when film can develop with a person, and this is a timeless example of that.

To add to that, I won tickets to see the unreleased Saving Mr. Banks last evening! It has the magic and wonder of the first film, primarily from a more adult perspective. If you have no idea what this is, check out my previous post with the film trailer, and then see it when it comes to theatres on December 20th!

I recommend it highly. As do I recommend a spoonful of sugar whilst taking medicine 🙂

Has anything made you as giddy as I in the last few weeks? Please share!

#19

The number 19.

On most days, this number holds little significance to myself, or anyone for that matter. No matter what the occasion, when you get to the number 19, you usually think to round up or down: class rank, money, age (probably to 21), and so forth. Well, today, the number 19 is the most significant number on the planet to me.

It is my brother, Nathan’s, birthday today. He would be 19 years old.

I remember flowers, and hugs, and tears, and an outpouring of love. I remember being so excited that various family members were coming into town from all over the country and that my sister and I had a multitude of people to play with us. I remember flashes of the funeral and feeling so small among the grown ups crowded in our little house. I remember being picked up and passed from one end of the house to the other to find my parents.

I remember vividly, and think that this event might be the cause of my elephant memory.

Nathan’s still birth 19 years ago really put things into perspective for me. It brought to my attention that I needed a strong core group of people surrounding me, and that the strongest of that core would be family. I realized, even at the age of 4, that he was in a better place — though earth is pretty cool, don’t you think?

Over the years, Nathan’s birthday has served as a reminder to live life to the fullest; not every person gets that opportunity. It is a marker that our family has grown another year stronger and closer in love. Tragedy like this didn’t break my parents, didn’t scar my sister and I, didn’t sever our bond. Today makes me appreciate my parents more and more, as parents and as very strong human beings.

Today makes me sad, but it also makes me happy. I didn’t get to know Nathan in person, but I think he would be proud to call me his sister. Maybe I make up for the loss of one brother in the attention I show the brother that we got to keep, and I am OK with that. I would like to think that we would all be as close as the remaining 3 of us have been, and that he would have grown into a wonderful young man, with those brown curls he was born with (just like mine!). Today reminds me that I have had a guardian angel looking after me for 19 years, and that I am one of the luckiest people in the world for that.

My wish is that I don’t get into any trouble today that would need guidance from him, to give him a birthday break.

So, here’s to you, Nathan Christopher! You light up our lives with a mere memory. I hope we are all living enough to our potentials to make up for the time you didn’t get!

Love, your sister,

Erin

A1: In the near future, I would like to do a complete redesign of this blog as a site with additional features, materials, and much much more! Good thing I have a Timmykins, and maybe I can bribe him to host and design my site for me (shameless plug: if you need webhosting, site building, etc. for less $$, he is the guy to go with! Contact me if you want more information!).

A2: I really want to get products and materials (both digital and physical) up and running to sell and give away! I would like to incorporate both PayPal and e-Junkie for this. GREAT things this way come…
